Snow Removal Leads to Sunday LIE Shutdown

Suffolk County Police said the major highway will be shut down from exit 57 to 73.

Suffolk County police said a portion of the Long Island Expressway would be closed on Sunday for snow removal.

Police said the highway will be shut in both directions from Exit 57/Nichols Road to Exit 73/Riverhead on Sunday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Throughout Saturday, stranded cars along the highway made snow removal difficult. While snow totals from Friday's blizzard varied, much of the region saw a minimum of two feet of snow.
