Suffolk County Public Hearing On Sandy Response

The Suffolk County Legislature is holding a public hearing on Thursday Dec 6 to pore over the overall preparation and response to Superstorm Sandy, which left hundreds of thousands powerless in the county and caused widespread damage to homes and properties.

The hearing will be run by the legislature's committees on public safety, energy and economic activity and will take comments from members of the public who want to speak out on the storm response.

While much of the post-Sandy discussion on Long Island has centered around the Long Island Power Authority and its work in restoring power to the 1 million customers knocked out by Sandy, this hearing will focus on the overall response, which includes examining the work of local governments, the county and other organizations that played a role in the recovery.
