In recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Walt Whitman Mall is joining with 13 Simon Property Group malls in the NY/NJ region to Paint the Mall Pink, a grassroots program designed to highlight breast cancer awareness that will feature a combination of educational displays, health fairs, special events, retailer offerings and a variety of other pink elements throughout the malls during the month of October.
An assortment of ‘pink-themed’ activities that will help increase the level of consciousness about breast cancer have been planned including:
- A Tree of Hope will be displyed in Center Court throughout the month of October with insciptions and messgaes written by mall employees and retail personnel with personalized message of hope on pink tags. Shoppers will be encouraged to take a pink tag, write a special message and also add it onto the Tree of Hope.

- On October 7-9 during regular mall hours through out the mall, local organizations, including Heart and Health, Natural Beauty Derma Spa, American Laser Skincare, Madona Cole Originals and others, will showcase their products and services focused on health and wellness.
During the expo Sephora and Saks Salon & Spa will also be offering mini-makeovers, The Body Shop will provide hand massages and more. In addition, the first 200 customers to register at Guest Services will receive a pink swag bag full of pink products, sponsor materials and special retailer offers.

- On Saturday, October 8 from 10:00 a.m, to 12 noon WALK Radio personality Bill Terry will be on hand. The Health & Wellness Expo is presented by North Shore-LIJ Women’s Health in association with Innovative Otolaryngology, P.C. and Health Media Group.
- Shoppers will receive a special Aluminum Water Bottle with any Susan G. Komen for the Cure American Express® Simon Giftcard®* purchase of $100 or more at Simon Guest Services. Offer is valid between October 1 - October 31 only at Walt Whitman Mall, while supplies last. Limit one per person.
- Throughout October, a host of mall retailers will be offering special Paint the Mall Pink discounts on select merchandise. Shoppers can also stop by Guest Services to enter to win numerous pink prizes as well as receive a free pink ribbon lapel pin while supplies last.
