Meeting On Sustainability Set

Local residents can offer input on new movement to improve environmental conditions of communities across Long Island.

Residents of Melville and Dix Hills are invited to attend a meeting and provide input for the regional sustainability plan being created through the Cleaner, Green Communities grant.

The Town of North Hempstead is the lead agency for this planning grant from the New York State Energy and Research Development Authority (NYSERDA) to create a regional sustainability plan for Long Island.

The sustainability plan will focus on greenhouse gas reduction and job creation within the topic areas of: water management, waste management, community development & housing, energy and transportation, land use & livable communities. The eight month planning process will be completed by the end of April.
