Parade, Festival to Cap Small Business Saturday

Shuttles to run throughout the day and evening to bring shoppers and parade-goers to Huntington village.

Huntington's fourth annual holiday parade will cap Small Business Saturday and bring thousands of people downtown.

Suffolk County police are warning about traffic delays from the parade and a streef fair, while the Paramount is suggesting parking alternatives.  As part of Small Business Saturday but before the parade, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Legis. William "Doc" Spencer are expected to do a little shopping at some village shops.

The parade will step off from Holdsworth Drive at 6:30 p.m. and head north on Route 110 to Main Street, ending at West Neck Road. Floats built by fire departments, the Chamber of Commerce and other organizations will light up the parade route.  Scouts and veterans and civic groups will be participating. The tree lighting is set for about 8:15 p.m., with a street fair on Wall Street after the parade.

Free shuttles from the Huntington LIRR station to the illage will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. HART buses will operate about every 45 minutes from the LIRR up New York Avenue to Main Street and to Nathan Hale Drive from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., with shoppers able to get on or off the bus at any intersection along the route. From 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., two HART buses will run between the LIRR station and the intersection of Green Street and West Carver Street.

In addition, paradegoers can use the Paramount's shuttle trolley, which will operate from 6 p.m. to 1:45 a.m. from the LIRR parking lot at New York Avenue and Church Street, to West Carver STreet.
