In accordance with a recommendation by the American Academy of Pediatrics, school districts all across America are no longer checking kids for lice or nits (lice eggs). Many schools are even allowing kids to remain in school with live lice. This is because lice are not considered to be dangerous, nor do they cause disease. While we agree with this premise, at Lice Tamers we are seeing kids come in for treatment who are more infested than ever before. Because no one has been checking them at school, the cases we see are far worse than ever before. These poor kids have been itchy for weeks, and are tearing their heads apart due to scratching.
