Good News: Tuna Club Donates $1,500 to Help Sandy Victims

Deer Park Man Wins Arm Wrestling Championship

A New York City firefighter from Deer Park earned the title of New York City King of Arms at the 36th annual NYC Big Apple Grapple International Arm Wrestling championships last Saturday. 

Mike Ayello, a 35 year old FDNY member at Ladder 135 in Glendale, Queens, added the title to two others he already holds: Mr. September, on the 2013 New York City Firefighters Calendar and Long Island’s Strongest Man, according to DNAinfo.com.

Students at Our Lady of Lourdes Learn Kindness Through Song

During Catholic Schools Week, students at Our Lady of Lourdes in West Islip were treated to a Kindness Concert. Janice Buckner's performance for nursery through third graders included puppets and encouraged "random acts of kindness."

Tuna Club Donates $1,500 to Neighbors Supporting Neighbors

The Babylon Tuna Club made a very special donation last Saturday to Neighbors Supporting Neighbors Babylon, presenting them with a $1,500 check to help the organization continue to support the survivors of Hurricane Sandy.

Interim Tuna Club chairperson and treasurer Mary Adams presented the $1,500 check to Kim Skillen. The money was raised during the Tuna Club's most recent Spring Bash event.

Sayville Boy Scout Troop Celebrates Another Eagle Achievement

Keith Frislid, of Sayville BSA Troop 184, will soon be confirmed as an Eagle Scout. The community is richer for having this young man being active in boy scouting. It is Troop #184's fourth Eagle Scout in the current scouting year and the troop's 37th Eagle Scout.  Frislid is also a top student in Sayville High School's senior class and the leader of the stage crew that has just produced the great production of "Fiddler On the Roof".  The troop is sponsored by the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce. 

Lindy Alum Named Named All-Conference for Men's Tennis

Lindenhurst High School Class of 2008 alum and Farmingdale State College senior and men's tennis team member Alex Bessarabov was named to the All-Skyline Conference Team this season. He was one of four players on the team named to the All-Skyline Conference Team.
