Everyone in the pool. The Carpool!

The Melville Chamber and 511Rideshare challenge area businesses to show that they are good neighbors by joining the 2012 Carpool Challenge.

The residents and businesses that make up the wonderful community surrounding the 110 Corridor have made our home one of America’s safest, most comfortable and environmentally friendly places to live and work.

Today we proudly stand as a model community that other regions have grown to admire and learn from. This is certainly a great place to live, work, learn and enjoy.

This fall 511NY Rideshare and the Melville Chamber of Commerce are inviting our local businesses to join us in making a simple but essential improvement to business and life on Long Island.

Help us reduce traffic and improve air quality on Long Island by joining the Fall 2012 Carpool Challenge. In addition to rewards for employees who step up to the challenge by carpooling, local businesses will receive some much deserved recognition.

If you accept our Fall Carpool Challenge, each participating employee who completes as few as 4 carpool roundtrips to work during one calendar month between October to December will receive a $25 TARGET gift card. Plus, the organization with the largest number of participating carpoolers will win a free luncheon as a special reward.

Ridesharing saves money and fuel. Even a small increase in the number of carpoolers will remarkably reduce traffic congestion and parking problems. It will also make a big difference in the air we breathe, the water we drink and the entire environment we live and work in by reducing vehicle emissions.

511NY Rideshare is a vital feature of the free to the user 511NY system that is building a smarter, multimodal transportation network coordinating road, train and bus information. 511NY Rideshare is a public service sponsored by the New York State Department of Transportation.

With your support we will make a difference. Can we count on your business to participate in our Fall Carpool Challenge?
