Melville Young Professionals Leading Us Into a Great Future

The Melville Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Group speak well for the future of our community.

“There is good news ahead for Long Island’s business community,” said renowned economist and Farmingdale State College Professor Ambrose Jusu when the Melville Chamber’s Young Professional Group celebrated the first day of the Summer of 2012 at Jewel Restaurant.

Dr. Jusu lead a lively discussion focused on the strengths and weaknesses of our local, national and international economies. As the economy bounces back we are seeing signs of a stronger real estate market, a forecast of growing manufacturing and long term growth in employment.

The real “good news” at this luncheon was the active participation of nearly twenty young Long Island executives who hold the future of our community in their skilled hands. It is an honor to include these highly professional men and women among the membership of the Melville Chamber of Commerce. They represent the depth of significant businesses that call the Route 110 Corridor home. Our young professionals come from national financial institutions, distinguished institutions of higher learning, renowned health care organizations, outstanding technology companies and more.

When the Chamber started the Young Professionals Group at the suggestion of Chamber member Michele Michael the idea was to offer assistance and mentorship to the future business leaders of Long Island. Over the past few years our mentorship programs and events have been well received providing support to dozens of great people at the beginning of their careers.

In reality the many benefits realized by the Chamber’s Young Professionals have been overshadowed by the countless positive rewards our senior members have received from the example they see on a regular basis from the innovative, energized, concerned and highly pro-active younger executives who may not yet have decades of experience under their belts but do most certainly have a most excellent focus on how they plan to participate in building the best possible future for their families, neighbors, co-workers and the entire region.

Importantly their actions speak louder than any words can. They are dedicated and generous. They never hesitate to help those in need. With donations of their own blood to raising many, many thousands of dollars for local and national charities they make a positive difference each and every day through their commitment to others.

This summer as you take time to relax, re-energize and place your priorities in order take a few moments to think about how you too can help build a better future for this great place we call home. Long Island needs your participation. When you are looking for direction or want to participate just give us a call at the Melville Chamber of Commerce. If we cannot help you ourselves then we might just suggest a Young Professional who can lead you into the future.
