Dr. Julie McAlduff, Ex-Educator, Dies

Former Dix Hills resident was 90.

Dr. Julie McAlduff, a former resident of Dix Hills, died Sept. 13.  She was a resident of Tiverton, R.I.

She was the widow of attorney Thomas McAlduff.

Born in Fall River, Mass., she joined the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II, becoming a registered nurse. She attended Duke University where she met her husband and then came to Long Island. She earned her Ph.D. in education from Columbia University and taught at colleges and universities throughout her career.

She was certified by Sorbonne University, Paris, to teach the French language and was also certified in health education, English and administration. She retired from teaching in 1987 from the Half Hollow Hills School District. She leaves a sister, Pauline Ahrens of Covington, La., her niece and caregiver Jacqueline Ciullo-King of Somerset and grandniece Elizabeth Ciullo-Daniel and her husband David of Fall River, as well as other nieces and nephews.
