Lawrence Slovin Dies at 86

World War II veteran worked as broker in Melville.

Lawrence Monroe Slovin, a former broker in Melville, died Sunday at Hilton Head Island, S.C.

He was 86 and was a veteran of World War II.

Larry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Harriet Saltz Slovin, his brother, Allan Slovin (Sandy), children, Margie Fendley (Craig), Bob Slovin (Debbie) and Fran Ritter (Dave), grandchildren Joshua (Anna), Gabe and Matt Fendley and Jack and Lucy Ritter and great-grandchildren, Jameson, Grant and Grace Fendley.

He was born in New York City on July 3, 1927. He graduated from James Monroe High School and Seton Hall University. He served in the Navy during WWII. He worked as a stockbroker at Merrill Lynch for over 30 years in the New York, Melville and Jericho offices. Memorial service details will be announced at a later date.
