Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Melville

A Deer Park man is suffering with life-threatening injuries after a crash on Ruland Road.

A 29-year-old man is in critical condition after a motorcycle crash in Melville.

According to Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives, Jordan Rutcofsky, of Deer Park, was operating a 2011 April motorcycle westbound on Ruland Road at a high rate of speed, when he crashed into Charles Pleckaitis, 73, who was driving a 2010 Toyota eastbound and attempting to make a left onto Maxess Road at 4:25 p.m. on Tuesday.

Melville Rescue brought Rutcofsky to Nassau University Medical Center in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Pleckaitis, of Huntington, was not injured.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252. All calls will be kept confidential.
