Two Elderly People Critically Injured in Morning Crash
Suffolk Police are investigating a Melville crash, in which two drivers were seriously hurt.
Two elderly people were seriously injured in a crash on Pinelawn Road in Melville Tuesday morning, Suffolk County Police said.
According to police, Thomas Emberton was driving a 1999 Toyota northbound on Route 110 in Melville, approaching the intersection of Pinelawn Road, when his vehicle collided with a 2007 Nissan at 8:40 a.m. Joan Goldstein, the driver of the Nissan, was driving southbound on Route 110 and attempting to make a left turn on to Pinelawn Road.
Emberton, 89, of Huntington, was transported by Melville Rescue to Plainview Hospital where he is listed in critical condition. Goldstein, 77, of East Northport, was transported by Melville Rescue Huntington Hospital where she is listed in critical condition.

The crash forced the closure of Pinelawn Road shorty after the collision. It was reopened around noon, police said.
Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating the crash.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252. All calls will be kept confidential.
