Cops Arrest Two in H&M Store Robbery

Nassau Police charge two women in connection with May robbery attempt at Massapequa retailer.

Two women who fought their way free after attempting to shoplift clothes from the in May have been arrested, according to Nassau County Police.

Anise Matthew, 21, of West Babylon, was arrested Thursday. Tishawri Tate, 21, of Amityville, surrendered to police on Saturday. Both are charged with second degree robbery.

The women are alleged to have taken two shirts, valued at $39.90, from clothing retailer  on May 26. When a loss prevention officer confronted the women outside the store, police say the defendants punched the officer in the head and neck.

The women fled without the merchandise at approximately 7:45 p.m. while the loss prevention officer was not injured, police said.

Tate will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday. Matthew was previously arraigned.

Coincidentally, the Sunrise Mall retailer was the target of another incident on the same day. Police charged Asim Henry, 22, of Amityville, with third degree assault at H&M after 9:20 p.m. It's unclear if the same officer was involved.

I have said it before on the patch and will continue to say it, Walmart is nothing but low life's and it attracts the people from crappy area's who have nothing better to do , but steal and assault good people.......enough already, get Walmart out of the mall. I also have lived here since the early 70's and use to work in the mall, now I won't go their because of the garbage that hangs out in the mall. They have no respect for anyone and they don't have any respect for themselves. It's like green acres now, and that place is a ghetto mall. Close down Walmart and clear up most of the problems. As for the security guard, give that person a raise for having to deal with garbage like that.As for the two pieces if garbage, throw away the key, they are useless.

As much as I like Walmart...I have to agree about taking it out of the Mall...they try and put nice stores in there...but it doesn't matter...they also need to redo the lighting in the mall to make it less dark. I love the convenience of Westfiled ..but constantly hearing about this...and seeing what I see when I go there...is slowly making me go to a different mall.

The Long Island Press is reporting the accused as being of the male gender: http://www.longislandpress.com/2012/08/18/2-men-charged-in-may-massapequa-robbery/ How funny is that?
