Cops: Melville Dentist Arrested for Practicing While Drunk

Police say Robert Garelick was allegedly intoxicated while he performed a dental procedure on a patient on Monday afternoon.

Suffolk Police arrested a dentist from Melville who they said was allegedly under the influence of alcohol while he conducted a dental procedure on a patient on Monday afternoon.

First Precinct police officers responded to a complaint at 4:30 p.m. at a dental office - located at 152 North Wellwood Avenue in Lindenhurst - about a dentist who appeared to be intoxicated.

After investigation police officials said First Precinct Crime Section officers determined Robert B. Garelick, 57, was under the influence of alcohol while performing dental work on a patient.

Garelick, who resides in Melville and is licensed to practice dentistry by New York State, was charged with one count of second degree reckless endangerment.

Police said he was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday, January 22.
