Coram Man Killed In LIE Crash

Police say motorcycle driven by Gerard Pomato was hit by another vehicle Saturday evening near Exit 50 in Dix Hills.

A Coram man was killed Saturday evening when his motorcycle was struck by another vehicle while driving on the Long Island Expressway in Dix Hills, Suffolk County Police said.

According to police, Gerard Pomato, 45, was operating a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle when a 2010 Mazda being driven by Michael Milner changed lanes and struck the motorcycle just east of Exit 50 on the LIE. The incident took place just after 5:30 p.m.

Pomato, of 17 Halliday Road in Coram, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office. Milner, 59, of 56 Manors Dr. in Jericho, was uninjured in the crash, police said.

Authorities impounded both vehicles for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.
