Crime Nearby: Man Who Faked Death Arrested Again

Notable arrests and convictions around Long Island.

The man who faked his own death at Jones Beach last summer found himself back in jail – this time held without bail – just one day after taking a plea deal.

Raymond Roth, 48, of Long Beach, was arrested last Wednesday, accused of impersonating a police officer and trying to lure a woman into a white minivan on March 21, Nassau County Police said.

Roth made national headlines when he was reported missing off Jones Beach by his son only to later turn up at his condo in Florida. He received a speeding ticket on the drive south after his supposed disappearance.
