Crime Nearby: Son of 'Missing' Swimmer Arrested

Massapequa

The son of the Massapequa resident who was reported missing at Jones Beach and later turned up alive, has been arrested, Parks Police said.

Jon Roth, 22, was arrested Monday afternoon at about 4 p.m. according to New York State Parks Police Capt. Bruce Marx.

Roth, who was being transferred from a Parks police facility in Babylon to the Nassau County's District Attorney's office, has been charged with insurance fraud, conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, and falsely reporting an incident, according to a spokesman for the Nassau County District Attorney.

He will be arraigned Tuesday.

Roth Raymond Roth missing on July 28th, setting off a massive search by authorities. On Wednesday, it was learned that he was alive and had been stopped by police in South Carolina.

Babylon Village

The Suffolk County Police Department announced the arrest of Bryan Fuge in connection with the  of the West Babylon Suffolk Federal Credit Union Bank.

Fuge, 30, of Yaphank, was charged with Robbery in the Third Degree and scheduled for arraignment today at the First District Court in Central Islip.

According to police, Fuge entered the bank at around 2:30pm and handed a teller a note announcing a robbery and demanding cash, according to Suffolk County detectives. The teller followed his demands and gave Fuge cash from the drawer.

After taking the money, he fled on foot and headed south through the parking lot from the bank located at 50-108 Route 109. Police did not say how much money the robber was able to get away with.

A photo, taken from a security camera at the scene, was used to help police track him down back in June.

Lake Ronkonkma

A Lake Ronkonkoma man who works for the New York State DOT has been arrested by the Nassau DA's office for allegedly falsifying the records he kept in connection with the state's H.E.L.P. roadside assistance program.

According to officials, Dominick Iannolo, 44, a HELP program supervisor, was snared in a dual-agency investigation with the state inspectors office and charged with four counts of falsifying business records and one count of official misconduct. Iannolo was arrested with one other, Brian Miller, 55, of West Babylon, for the same charges. Both men are due back in court September 11.

Farmingdale

Two men held up a Lowe's store Wednesday night in East Farmingdale.

Suffolk County police said two men entered the store on Price Parkway in East Farmingdale at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday and demanded cash. One man pulled a handgun. Police said the cashier handed over the money and the two men fled in a two-door sports car

On Monday, a Lowe's store in Hicksville was also robbed by a man who displayed a gun and made off with cash, police said.

Garden City

A Hempstead man was arrested after  in June and July. A thorough investigation by the Garden City, Hempstead and Nassau County Police led to the arrest of Jaime A. Nunez, 29, on Terrace Avenue in Hempstead July 31. Nunez was charged with marijuana possession and four burglaries.

Malverne-West Hempstead

A West Hempstead man was g a fellow resident and '' outside . Nassau County Police's Homicide Squad arrested Bruny E. Fenelon, 30, of West Hempstead, at 10:55 p.m. According to detectives, Fenelon was involved in an argument with another man in the back parking lot of the Hempstead Turnpike store. When the argument escalated, Fenelon allegedly began to punch and kick the 39-year-old victim, which resulted in his death.

Greenport

Ralph Mims III, 34, of East Marion, was charged with driving with a suspended license, evading police and other offenses on Aug. 4, after police observed Mims speeding in a 2004 Nissan Maxima on Route 48 in Greenport, police said. A registration check on the license plate revealed that the vehicle was displaying plates that did not match the car. The vehicle in question turned off but was later located headed east on Route 48. The vehicle made a sudden left hand turn into a driveway off of Route 48, and the operator took off on foot, police said. The Southold Town Police K-9 unit tracked Mims to a residence nearby.  Mims told police he ran because his license was suspended, police said. He was arrested, released on bail, and ordered to appear before Southold Town Justice court at a later date.

Riverside

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office East End Drug Task Force and Southampton Town Police arrested Moses Bullock, 39, of Riverside and charged him with two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony.

Bullock was arrested after police said he had allegedly sold a quantity of crack cocaine on multiple dates.  According to Southampton Town police, Bullock was arrested after a several-months' long investigation into alleged narcotics activity in the Flanders and Riverside areas.
