Crime Report: Burglaries, Exposure, Forcible Touching

Recent police activity in the Dix Hills/Melville area.

The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Incidents

  • A burglary of a vacant house, discovered by a real estate agent, was reported on Eugene Street in Melville at noon on May 8.

  • An incident of harassment, involving an estranged husband, was reported on Alderfield Road in Melville at 8:20 a.m. on May 13.  

  • A burglary, in which a homeowner discovered a window open and a purse and TV stolen, was reported on Farmington Lane in Melville at 11 p.m. on May 15.

  • A burglary, in which a computer, phone and purse was stolen, was reported on Threepence Drive in Melville at 12:30 a.m. on May 16. 

  • An incident of criminal mischief was reported on Shoreham Drive W. in Dix Hills at midnight on May 16.

  • An incident of criminal mischief to a mailbox was reported on High Pasture Circle in Dix Hills at 7 p.m. on May 17.

  • An incident of harassment was reported on Pinelawn Road in Melville at 12:30 p.m. on May 19.

  • An incident of assault was reported on Pinelawn Road in Melville at 3:30 p.m. on May 19.

  • An incident of grand larceny, in which a pocketbook was stolen from a car, was reported on Ruland Road in Melville at 5:30 p.m. on May 20.

  • An incident of criminal mischief was reported on Old South Path in Melville at 10 p.m. on May 20.

  • An incident of harassment was reported on Yarmouth Street in Melville at 8 p.m. on May 21.

  • An incident of criminal mischief to property was reported on Suncrest Drive in Dix Hills at 1:25 a.m. on May 22.

  • An incident of criminal mischief was reported on Plane Tree Lane in Dix Hills at 1:30 a.m. on May 22.

  • Arrests

    • James Tomassi, of Ronkonkoma, was arrested in Dix Hills on May 15 on a charge of aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. 

    • Michael McNamara, of South Huntington, was arrested in Dix Hills on May 17 on a charge of lewdness: exposing body in public.

    • Patrick McGinley, of Pocono Summit, was arrested in Dix Hills on May 19, on a charge of driving while intoxicated. 

  • David While, of Central Islip, was arrested in Melville on May 19 on charges of assault and harassment.

  • Nelson Ramirez, of Dix Hills, was arrested in Dix Hills on May 22 on a charge of forcible touching.
