Crime Report: Car Stolen, Violent Husband

A look at recent crime in Half Hollow Hills.

Dix Hills

  • A burglary was reported on Burrs Lane on Oct. 9. According to place, items were moved around and disheveled at the home, but nothing was missing.

  • An incident of criminal mischief to the windshield of a car was reported on Ryder Avenue on Oct. 9. 

  • An incident of criminal mischief was reported on Old Brook Road on Oct. 13.

  • An incident of harassment was reported on Lyric Place on Oct. 14. 

  • An incident of grand larceny, in which a 1999 Honda Civic was stolen, was reported on Pine Hill. 

  • An incident of harassment was reported on Oakfield Avenue on Oct. 16. 

  • Victor Cortes, of Central Islip, was arrested in Dix Hills on Oct. 21 on a charge of driving while intoxicated-first offense. 

  • Synthia Seraphin, of Dix Hills, was arrested in Dix Hills on Oct. 18 on charges of criminal possession of stolen property valued at more than $3,000. 

  • Melville

    • A robbery was reported on Walt Whitman Road on Oct. 20. 

    • An incident of harassment involving a violent husband was reported on Court North Drive on Oct. 18. 

    • An incident of criminal mischief to a fence was reported on Frostfield Place on Oct. 14. 

  • An incident of aggravated harassment involving a threatening phone call was reported on Split Rock Court on Oct. 10. 

  • An incident of harassment was reported on Altessa Boulevard on Oct. 9. 

  • Scott Saslaw, of Melville, was arrested on Oct. 10 on charges of aggravated DWI, resisting arrest, menacing:weapon, and burglary.
