Crime Report: Rape, Mailbox Damage, GPS Theft

Recent police activity in the Dix Hills/Melville area.

The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Incidents

  • A burglary was reported on Deer Park Avenue in Dix Hills at 10:30 a.m on April 2.

  • An incident of criminal mischief was reported to a mailbox on Carlls Straight Path in Dix Hills on April 2 at 11:30 p.m.

  • An incident of criminal mischief was reported on Route 110 in Melville on April 3 at 5:30 p.m.

  • An incident of harassment was reported on Landview Drive in Dix Hills on April 4 at 1 a.m.

  • An incident of grand larceny, involving the theft of a wallet and GPS, was reported on Cather Avenue in Dix Hills on April 5 at 12:30 a.m.

  • An incident of criminal mischief, involving the slashing of tires on a Toyota, was reported on Melville Estates Court in Melville on April 6 at 3:30 p.m. 

  • An assault was reported on Sweet Hollow Road in Melville on April 7 at 8 p.m. 

  • Arrests

    • Hikmet Ozbey, of Melville, was arrested in Melville on April 5 on a charge of first degree rape.  

    • Jean Fortunato, of West Babylon, was arrested in Melville on April 6 on a charge of possession of a forged instrument.

    • Julio Alarcon, of Wyandanch, was arrested in Melville on April 9 on a charge of aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.
