Crime Report: Several Burglaries

A look at recent crime in Half Hollow Hills.

The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions. 

Dix Hills

  • An incident of criminal mischief to a vehicle was reported on Caledonia Road on Nov. 20.

  • A burglary was reported on Baldwin Path on Nov. 20. 

  • An incident of criminal mischief to a fence was reported on McCulloch Drive on Nov. 16.

  • A burglary was reported on Illinois Street on Nov. 16. 

  • An incident of grand larceny, in which items were stolen from a driveway during the night, was reported on Haig Drive on Nov. 14. 

  • A burglary, in which someone broke in through a kitchen window while the homeowner slept, was reported on Longworth Avenue on Nov. 11. 

  • Karl Gebhardt, of Melville, was arrested in Dix Hills on Nov. 14, on charges of burglary and robbery. 

  • Melville

    • An incident of grand larceny of power tools was reported on Round Swamp Road on Nov. 17. 

    • An burglary was reported as occurring on Jayne Avenue sometime between Oct. 30 and Nov. 1. 

    • An assault was reported on Avalon Court Drive on Nov. 17. 

    • A burglary was reported on Court North Drive on Nov. 14. 

  • Frank Meringolo, of Melville, was arrested in Greenlawn on Nov. 24 on charges of assault with intent to cause physical injury and resisting arrest. 

  • Michael Meringolo, of Melville, was arrested in Greenlawn on Nov. 24 on charges of assault with intent to cause physical injury and resisting arrest. 

  • Joseph LaMacchia, of Melville, was arrested in Huntington on Nov. 18 on a charge of assault with intent to cause physical injury.
