State Police: Man Drove Drunk With Kids in Car

A Manhattan man was arrested in Dix Hills last week, accused of driving drunk with children in his car, according to New York State Police.  

According to police, troopers pulled Vince V. Mojica, 26, over on the westbound side of the Northern State Parkway when they saw his pickup truck fail to stay in its lane.  

After an investigation revealed that Mojica was intoxicated, he was placed under arrest on felony DWI charge under Leandra's Law, police said. 

Deer Park Man Facing Additional Organized Crime Charges

A Deer Park man cited by law enforcement authorities as a captain in the Bonanno crime family was among eight people on Tuesday charged in state court with various crimes that included loan sharking, drug dealing and gambling, the Manhattan District Attorney said.  

Nicholas Santora, 71, is facing one count of enterprise corruption, one count of second-degree grand larceny and one count of first-degree criminal usury. All charges are felonies.  

Two Arrested in North Babylon Robbery


Two men were arrested on the morning of July 4 after police say they punched a man in the head, causing the victim to fall off of his bicycle at the corner of Deer Park Avenue and Park Avenue. 

The alleged attackers, Raul Albarado, 30, of North Babylon, and Francisco Diaz, 22, Babylon, stole the victim's headphones, police said. They are each charged with second degree robbery:aided by another.  

Copper Piping Stolen From Abandoned Home

Police say an unknown person(s) broke into an abandoned home on Sarah Drive in Dix Hills on July 5. Copper piping was then stolen from the basement, police said.
