Dentist Accused of Drinking On The Job Back At Work

Phone message says Robert Garelick's Lindenhurst office has reopened following his arrest on Monday.

The Melville dentist accused by police of drinking on the job is back at work.

A phone message at the office of Robert Garelick indicated the office was open, but asked callers to leave a message as the receptionist was busy helping other patients.

Suffolk County Police on Monday arrested Garelick, a Melville resident whose practice is located at 152 North Wellwood Avenue in Lindenhurst, for allegedly conducting a procedure on a patient while under the influence of alcohol.

Newsday reported that Garelick was arraigned Tuesday on a misdemeanor charge of second-degree reckless endangerment and was released without bail.

Citing court documents, published reports said that a dental assistant working for Garelick told police she smelled alcohol on his breath and that he had made “major mistakes” during the day, which included injecting a patient with anesthesia on the wrong side of the individual’s mouth.
