DHFD Open House Set For Sunday

Community event marks the beginning of National Fire Prevention Week.

The Dix Hills Fire Department will mark National Fire Prevention Week with an open house this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The community event, which will be held at 115 E. Deer Park Road in Dix Hills, will feature various demonstrations, including fire rescue techniques, the jaws of life, “Clinic Kids” EMS for dolls and teddy bears, and a child ID booth that will provide families with child identification materials to be used if an emergency occurred.

“It’s important for people of all ages to learn about fire safety,” said Richard Granahan, Dix Hills Fire Chief. “Every year, members of our department look forward to educating families on certain techniques, such as stop, drop and roll and how to plan a home escape route. Knowing a few important safety tips can help prevent harm to lives and property.”
