Dix Hills FD to Host Recruitment Fair Sunday

Are you interested in becoming one of Dix Hills' bravest?

The Dix Hills Fire Department will host a Recruitment Fair to meet residents, who are looking to help their community by becoming a firefighter or emergency medical technician (EMT). Chiefs and members will educate visitors on what it takes to become a volunteer, and share their incredible experiences on the front line.

Taking the first step towards becoming a responder couldn't be easier; just stop by Dix Hills Fire Department headquarters at 115 E. Deer Park Road, next to the Northern State Parkway, on Sunday, April 21 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the facility; meet the members; and schedule an interview.

“We’re looking for residents who want to help their neighbors and friends whenever necessary,” said Ex-Chief Richard Sorrentino, event chairman. “Our department currently has a very strong and active membership comprised of approximately 160 members, but we are always looking to grow and add members who want to give back to their community.”

Chief Sorrentino added that applicants must meet a few simple requirements:

·         You must be 18 years old or older;

·         Your legal residence must be within the Dix Hills Fire District;

·         You must pass a physical exam, drug screening, and background check.
