DWI Checkpoint Nabs Two Local Residents

Police say David Knesich and Anthony Long were driving while intoxicated.

A Melville resident and Dix Hills resident were among 13 people arrested Friday night as part of a sobriety checkpoint operation in Huntington Station, Suffolk County Police said.

According to police, David Knesich, 35 of Goldfield St. in Melville and Anthony Long, 24, of Homewood Lane in Dix Hills are each charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

Police said the sobriety checkpoint was conducted on Route 110 by Suffolk Police, New York State Police and New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police as part of an operation to prevent injuries and fatalities associated with DWI.

A total of 662 vehicles went through the checkpoint.

Knesich and Long were scheduled to be arraigned at First District County in Central Islip on Saturday.
