House Fire Kills Dix Hills Man

Kenneth Horadnitsky, 62, dies Thursday afternoon in fire on Lauren Avenue, police say.

A Dix Hills man was pulled from a house fire Thursday afternoon and pronounced dead at the scene, Suffolk Police said.

Police say a tenant at 18 Lauren Avenue arrived home and found the house filled with smoke. The unidentified tenant found his landlord, Kenneth Horadnitsky, inside and pulled him from the burning building shortly before 5 p.m., police said.

Horadnitsky, 62, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The Dix Hills Fire Department and the Commack Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

Police do not suspect foul play. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
