Man Killed in LIE Crash
Car catches fire after striking pole and running into wooded area east of Route 110.
A driver was killed early Monday morning when his car left the Long Island Expressway just east of Route 110 and crashed in a wooded area.
Suffolk County Police Second Squad said the 2000 Nissan Altima struck a lightpole about 2:15 a.m. and then crashed in the woods on Express Drive South, where it caught fire.
The driver, who has not been positively identified, was pronounced dead by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
