Melville Man Dies In One-Car Crash

Police say vehicle driven by Sidney Stein struck a tree on Bagatelle Road Thursday afternoon.

An elderly Melville man was killed in a crash Friday afternoon on Bagatelle Road, Suffolk County Police said.

According to police, Sidney Stein, 82, was driving a 2004 Lexus northbound on Bagatelle when he apparently lost control of his car. The vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and struck a tree just north of Hemingway Drive.

Stein, of Bardini Drive, was taken by the Melville Fire Department to North Shore LIJ Plainview Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.

I rode by on MADISON bike after the crash, and it wasn't a bad crash, and by his looks, he didn't appear to be a PORKER..........he must have had a heart attack before the fatal crash..............

The 2 car crash about 6 weeks ago at the corner of BAGATELLE and the NORTH SERVICE road was more of a mess.........thanks to that girl also heading NORTH, blowing through the red light, flipping the car on the SERVICE ROAD on it's side...........I thought for sure the innocent driver would have been killed.........
