Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Melville Crash

Two other suffer minor injuries in accident Saturday night, police say.

A motorcyclist is in critical condition following a crash in Melville Saturday night, police said. 

John Grant, of Brentwood, was riding a 1992 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on Pinelawn Road when he collided with a 1999 Volkswagen, driven by Dwight Bogle, who was travelling north on Pinelawn Road, and attempting to make a left turn into the Newsday parking lot near the intersection of Marcus Drive, police said.

Grant, 22, was transported by Melville Fire Department Rescue to North Shore-LIJ Hospital in Plainview where he is in critical condition with head injuries, a broken pelvis and other life-threatening injuries.

Bogle, 42, of North Amityville, and a passenger in his vehicle, Raquel Bogle, 43, were transported to North Shore-LIJ Hospital in Syosset for treatment of minor injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety inspections. The investigation is continuing. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
