Police: Deer Park Bicyclist Found Seriously Injured in Dix Hills

Paul Rovelli in serious condition at the hospital as police attempt to piece together what happened.

A 69-year-old Deer Park man who had been riding his bicycle in Dix Hills was found lying in a roadway Wednesday afternoon, according to Suffolk Police. 

Paul Rovelli was semi-conscious when a motorist discovered him lying next to a bicycle on Carlls Straight Path, near Villadom Court, around 1:20 p.m, police said. 

Rovelli, who was wearing a helmet at the time, suffered an "apparent head injury" and was transported to Huntington Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition, police said.

Due to the nature of his injuries, Rovelli has been unable to provide detectives with any information regarding the incident, police said.

As the investigation is continues, police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Second Squad detectives at 631-854-8252 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
