Police: Dix Hills Man Seriously Injured in Motorcycle Crash

Lance Russell, 23, crossed a double yellow line to pass vehicles before his motorcycle collided with a dump truck Saturday, police say.

A Dix Hills man was seriously injured when his motorcycle crashed into a dump truck on Carlls Straight Path Saturday evening, police said.

Police say Lance Russell, 23, was operating a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle south on Carlls Straight Path when he crossed the double yellow line to pass southbound vehicles and collided with the truck, operated by Joseph Femia, who was turning left into his driveway at 5:16 p.m.

Russell was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered serious injuries, police said. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip.

Femia, 47, was not injured in the crash, which occurred near Plymouth Street. The investigation is continuing and police are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.

The biker crossed a double yellow to pass. Isn't it obvious? He won't be the last idiot to do it either
