Police Searching for Man in Melville 7-Eleven Theft

Police say man stole cigarettes from store in February.

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying and locating a man in connection with a theft at a Melville 7-Eleven. 

Police say the man entered the 7-Eleven, located at 22 Broadhollow Road, and stole eight packs of Newport 100 cigarettes and then ran out of the store on February 22 at 1:15 a.m. He fled the scene in a gray minivan.

The man was described as white, approximately 6-foot-2, about 180 pounds with black hair and was unshaven. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

If you call anonymously, how do you identify yourself to collect the reward? I think the promise of the reward is the real crime here.
