Thieves Caught on Camera Stealing From Costco

Police are asking for help to identify three suspects who were videotaped taking recyclables from the wholesale store.

Police are seeking the public's help to identify and locate three men who allegedly stole three bales of cardboard and two flats from Costco in Melville, which were scheduled to be picked up for recycling.

According to the Second Precinct Crime Section, at sometime between 11:45 p.m. on July 17 and 2:15 a.m. on July 18, three unknown white males drove a U-Haul box truck to the rear parking lot of the Costco store located at 625 Broadhollow Road in Melville. The three subjects took the flats and the bales of cardboard, which were set aside for recycling, loaded the items into the box truck and drove away.

The incident was captured on surveillance video.

According to police, all three subjects appeared to be in their early 20s. One appeared to be average in height and had a thin build. Another is said to be shorter with a thin build. The third male wore eye glasses and was average in height with a heavy build. 

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers are offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
