Three Injured After Tree Topples onto Cars

The crash closed the westbound lanes of the Northern State Parkway in Dix Hills Sunday.

Three people were injured Sunday after a large tree fell onto two cars that were traveling west on the Northern State Parkway near Deer Park Avenue in Dix Hills.

The incident occurred around 1:15 p.m. 

Dix Hills Fire Department fire and rescue units responded to the scene and transported the three patients to Huntington Hospital.

Two heavy rescue trucks, three ambulances, an off-road brush truck, paramedic and first responder units, as well as about 30 Dix Hills firefighters and rescue personnel were dispatched under the command of Chief Tom Magno and Second Assistant Chief Tom Napolitano. 

The crash closed the westbound parkway at Deer Park Avenue which was completely blocked by the tree.
