Toddler in Critical Condition After Fall into Fish Pond
Dix Hills firefighters help to save 18-month-old boy from near-drowning.
An 18-month-old boy is in critical condition at Good Samaritan Hospital today, after falling into a backyard fish pond on Sunday in Dix Hills.
Suffolk County police said the incident occurred on Hart Place in Dix Hills around 6 p.m.
A birthday party was taking place when the boy was found face down in the water, police said.

The child was in respiratory arrest when the Dix Hills Fire Department Rescue Squad arrived. Emergency medical technicians worked to get the boy's breathing under control during the ambulance ride to the hospital, where police say he is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.
