A woman driving a Nissan Pathfinder veered off the Vanderbilt Parkway Wednesday night and the vehicle flipped on its side, officials said.
The , led by assistant chief Tom Magno, had to cut the car's roof off to get the woman out safely.
She suffered multiple injuries and was taken to Huntington Hospital by ambulance. A helicopter was unavailable because of the weather.

Magno said, "There was no doubt that the weather played a role in her accident because we had hail, sleet and then snow in a matter of minutes, causing road conditions to become hazardous very quickly."
On Tuesday, there was a two-vehicle accident with one car overturned.

One woman had to be extricated and was flown to Stony Brook by a Suffolk County police helicopter with a head injury.
The other driver was transported to Huntington Hospital by ambulance to be treated for a minor injury.
