Woman Ejected, Seriously Injured in Dix Hills Crash

Two-car crash occurs late Friday night at Commack Road and the LIE service road.

A 66-year-old Bethpage woman was seriously injured after being ejected from her car in a crash in Dix Hills late Friday night. 

Eileen Schmid suffered serious head injuries in the two-car accident that occurred around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Express Drive South and Commack Road.

According to police, Ernesto Espino, of Bay Shore, was driving a 2003 Nissan east on the Express Drive South when he collided with the woman's 2005 Hyundai as she was turning left onto the service road from southbound Commack Road.

The female driver was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where she was listed in serious condition.

Espino, 35, was treated at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for non-life-threatening injuries.
