Cell Phones for Soldiers

Suffolk County Legis. Steve Stern is hosting a phone drive this Saturday for U.S. troops.

Suffolk County Legis. Steve Stern (D-Dix Hills) is hosting a cell phone drive marathon on Saturday, Aug. 18 to help soldiers stay in touch with their loved ones.

"Cell Phones for Soldiers" is a nonprofit organization that collects used cell phones and recycles them for calling cards. These calling cards are given to the soldiers so that they can communicate with their families free of charge. Gently used cell phones, accessories and chargers are greatly appreciated will be accepted.

The cell phone drive will take place from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the following Stop & Shop locations:

  • 1100 Jericho Turnpike, Dix Hills
  • 3126 Jericho Turnpike, East Northport
  • 421 Commack Road, Deer Park

Residents can also donate their used cell phones at Stern’s district office, located at 1842 E. Jericho Turnpike, Suite P, Huntington, NY 11743.
