Lupinacci Named to Higher Education Panel

New assemblyman wins legislative committee assignments.

Assemb. Chad Lupinacci (R-Huntington Station) has been appointed the ranking Republican member on the State Assembly Higher Education Committee.

“By working to improve the educational system right here on Long Island we can help ensure that young people won’t be forced to leave their community just to receive a quality education. By leveraging New York’s human capital and partnering with local businesses and organizations, our colleges and universities can prepare students to hit the ground running in the field of their choice.”

In addition to the Higher Education Committee, Lupinacci will also serve on the Assembly Election Law, Judiciary, Transportation and Tourism committees.

The former South Huntington school trustee represents the 10th Assembly District.

How did a member of the minority party get a ranking position? I hope they listen to his experience from his time as a school board trustee. The state and feds enacting unfunded mandates is one of the reasons our property taxes are so high.

John, thanks, I added "Republican" to the ranking reference.

I first met Chad about seven years ago when he knocked at my front door. He was running for the BOE for S. Huntington back then. He was going door to door talking to the residents of S. Huntington trying not only to get votes but also to understand what was important to the people and parents of S. Huntington. Hey! He listened to me for some time…. I grilled him for about a half-an-hour and he did great. From that day on I have told everyone and anyone who wanted to listen to vote for him for the S. Huntington BOE and, as well this past year, for Assemblyman. He has stayed principled and steadfast as a Republican. Thank you Chad
