McKay Readies Run Against Naughton

Parks director schedules fundraiser.

Town Parks Director Don McKay has scheduled a fundraiser for Feb. 11 in his campaign to unseat highway superintendent Willliam J. Naughton, a fellow Democrat.

McKay, who was appointed to the parks job in 1995, formerly worked as a reporter and later as an aide to Steve Israel when he served on the Town Board. He also served as public information for the town before taking over the parks job. McKay is a 1983 graduate of Northport High School.

The term is for four years.

Tickets for the fundraiser at Jellyfish run from $150 to $1,000. The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Huntington Town Democratic Committee is inviting those interested in running for supervisor, town board or highway superintendent to notify the committee by Feb. 8.

Perfect world, I'd rather have someone new, independent and from outside current Huntington gov't and their cronies. But that won't happen. So I'd give McKay a shot and if he F's it up, then people can elect someone else.

So looking at the town website, John Leo is town attorney, Thelma Neira does not show up in a search. David McLuckie does not show up in a search. Andre Myrick does not show up in a search. Anthony Aloisio is head of planning and development. So all knowing Dad of Three, if you could drop the sarcasm and arrogance for a minute, could you enlighten us on who those other people are?

A very sound observation, JIm. When the choice is "A" or "B", you can't pick "C" unless there actually is a "C".

For Big E, the list you originally posted has numbers suggesting they came from this Newsday source (easily Googled): http://data.newsday.com/long-island/data/town-city/2011-payroll/huntington/ Therefore, you could have gone back to that same source for the information which you requested. By checking that source, here is what Newsday wrote for the positions of each of the three you just asked about: Name Title Department Neira Dpty Twn Attorney Town Attorney McLuckie Exec Asst Hwy Supervisor Highway Elwood Office Myrick Public Trans Operations Supvsr Bus Operations Now, having attended a fair number of Town Board meetings over the years, I had seen Thelma Neira in action and knew her position. But the other two, in less visible positions, were unknown to me before I checked the Newsday article which you had used.
