Sessions to Offer ID Cards to Seniors

D'Amaro to run program to help provide cards and find out about new services.

Suffolk County Legislator Lou D’Amaro (D-Huntington Station)  will hold Senior Citizen Community Outreach Programs at several Babylon and Huntington locations in September to provide free Suffolk County ID for residents ages 60 and older.

These ID cards are required for the reduced fare on the Suffolk County Bus and also can be used to receive discounts at many area businesses.

Seniors can receive their cards by bringing proof of age and residence to one of these locations at the specified times.  The new edition of the Suffolk County Office for the Aging Program & Services Guide for Senior Citizens will also be available.

September dates, locations and times:

Thursday, Sept. 12: North Babylon Public Library, 815 Deer Park Avenue, North Babylon, 11 am – 1 pm

There will also be a  “Shed the Meds” program on this day and all local residents are invited and encouraged to bring their unused and unwanted medications to the library during the 11 am – 1 pm time period.

Tuesday, Sept. 17: Town of Babylon Spangle Drive Senior Center, 438 Spangle Drive, North Babylon, 12 – 2 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 19: South Huntington Public Library, 145 Pidgeon Hill Road, Huntington Station, 11 am – 1 pm

Thursday, Sept. 26: Deer Park Public Library, 44 Lake Drive, Deer Park, 11 am – 1 pm.

“While I will continue to provide Senior ID cards and related information free of charge at my office, I wanted to give our local seniors even more opportunities to receive access to all of the discounts and programs provided by the County’s Office for the Aging,” D’Amaro said.
