Should There Be a Traffic Light at Hills East? [POLL]

A petition to add a traffic light and cross walk re-emerges after Wednesday's hit and run.

After a Half Hollow Hills senior was on Wednesday outside of High School East, a petition calling for an added traffic light and crosswalk to the area re-emerged.

The petition was started by Joshua Shinbrot, a senior at and leader in the local chapter of the National Federation of American Students. He and his classmates began collecting signatures from community members last school year after several car accidents, inlucing one in which an alumna suffered brain damage, occured at the exit of the high school.

The petition re-surfaced online Wednesday when an 18-year-old male student was airlifted to Stony Brook Universtiy Medical Center after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street. The vehicle then fled the scene.
