Forest Park Celebrates National Award

The elementary school celebrates its designation as a Blue Ribbon School.

Forest Park Elementary School was a sea of blue on Thursday as the school proudly celebrated its designation as a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education.

In , the school was named one of 315 winners from across the country, as an example of excellence where the achievement gap is narrowing.

This week, Principal Ross Diener and fifth grade teacher Crystal Roberts accepted the official plaque and Blue Ribbon Flag at an award ceremony in Washington, D.C. On Thursday, the awards were brought home to .

Instead of the official green and gold school colors, the entire school was decked in blue, including the students and staff who dressed in the color to match the award.

Administrators, Board of Education Trustees, students, teachers, staff, PTA presidents and parents all celebrated in the event, which culminated outside. With pom-poms waving, the National Blue Ribbon Flag was raised, so that all who pass by take notice of the achievement.
