Girls Now Welcome in HHH Basketball Summer Clinics

Sports camp to offer one week of women's drills and practice with varsity coaches.

For the first time, girls will now be able to participate in the Hills West Basketball Clinic, an intense series of drills and practice sessions held at the high school each summer.

Now girls, grades three through 10, will have a week-long session just for them. Each  session is limited to 80 children.

Hills West varsity coach Bill Mitaritonna said that the all-girls week has been something the coaches in the district have wanted to start for a while and decided this was the year to do it.

“People in the community were asking about it and the girls coaches wanted to get something going so we figured why not?” he said. “It’s going to be a great thing. I’m excited to see it happen.”

The girls’ clinic will take place July 23 – 27.

This year is also the first time that all of the district’s varsity coaches will be involved in the clinic. Head coach Pete Basel of Hills East basketball will join the staff for the boys sessions and head coach Chick Hamm of Hills East girls basketball will work with head coach Stefanie Mouzakes of Hills West girls basketball for the girls session.

“I think it’s a great idea because we all believe in the same things and we’ll be able to learn from each other,” Mitaritonna said.

The Hills West Basketball Clinic is not an official Half Hollow Hills School District Activity, but run through The Hills West Basketball Booster Club, a non-for-profit organization.

The clinic starts July 9. Click here to register: www.leaguelineup.com/hillswestbasketballclinic
