Hills Student/Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

Students sign for baseball and lacrosse.

The following information was supplied to Half Hollow Hills Patch by Felice Kristall.

Congratulations to eight students at Half Hollow Hills High School East on their college acceptances and athletic Letter of Intent signings. Three students will be playing baseball, and five students will be playing lacrosse. All have numerous athletic and academic accomplishments noted below.

John Gallo
John Gallo will attend New Jersey Institute of Technology in the Fall, playing for the Division I Highlanders Baseball team. As a a junior, John started six games on the mound, with an earned run average under 3.00 and a pitch top speed reaching 85mph. He also played for Long Island Storm and attended the Head First Baseball Showcase. John is a member of the National Honor Society and Varsity Club.

Stephen Woods
Stephen Woods is headed for SUNY Albany and will be playing Division I Baseball for the purple and gold Great Danes. As a junior, Newsday named Stephen as one of the ‘Top 100 Long Island Baseball Players.’ That same year he pitched 35 2/3 innings and struck out 58 opponents while giving up only 21 hits, recognition as All-League Pitcher, and Perfect Games All American Underclassman Honorable Mention. At Summer’s end, Stephen’s fastball clocked in reaching 90+ mph. Major League teams started evaluating Stephen for possible inclusion in the 2013 draft. His other accomplishments include All-League 3rd Baseman title sophomore year, a High Honor Roll student and Varsity Club President.

Michael Ceparano
In the Fall, Michael Ceparano has committed to attend Adelphi University to play Division II Baseball, as a Position Pitcher for the Panthers. In high school, as a varsity team starter, he pitched two no hitter games — one in league and the other in National Perfect Game Tournament in Florida — earning Michael All-League Honors both sophomore and junior years, and team MVP in 2011.

Anthony Ramaizel
Anthony Ramaizel will be attending Lehigh University, playing Division I Lacrosse for the black/gold Mountain Hawks. As a member of the Varsity team, Anthony has earned the following titles: 2012 Suffolk Division 1 Lacrosse All-League Selection, 2011 Team Leader in points and Suffolk Division I Rookie of the Year. In 2011 he was also a member of the Suffolk Rising Showcase Lacrosse Team and Fab 40 Philly Showcase All-Star Team. His favorite extra-curricular school activity is as Vice President of Varsity Club.
 
Jesse Parker

Jesse Parker has signed to play Division I Lacrosse at SUNY Binghamton for the green and white Bearcats. To date, he has been recognized as All County Attackman, 5th leading scorer on Long Island in his junior year, Suffolk County All-Star in the Long Island Showcase, and 2012 Team Captain. He is a Scholar Athlete and member of the National Honor Society.

Alexis Maffucci
Alexis Maffucci is headed for Baltimore to attend Johns Hopkins University, and will be on the roster as a Division I Lady Blue Jay Lacrosse player. Her athletic career began in 8th grade as a Varsity Starter, earning many titles: All-League in 9th grade, All-County in 10th and 11th grades, Team Captain and MVP junior year, too. She was on the Under Armor All-America Team in 10th and 11th grades, U-15 National Champion and All-Tournament Team. Alexis also played Varsity Volleyball as a starter in 10th grade, receiving All-League recognition and the Coaches Award in her senior year. School club activities consist of Peer Ambassadors, Varsity Club, and Italian Club.

Jillian Rocco
Mercy College is Jillian Rocco’s destination, majoring in Elementary Education with a Special Education minor, and as a Lady Maverick on their Division II Lacrosse team. Since freshman year, Jillian has been the starting varsity goalie. Sophomore year earned her the All-Tournament title for outstanding play in playoffs, and she was named a Scholar-Athlete all three years. Outside of school, Jillian played competitive travel lacrosse for Hills Lady Pride as a youngster, and both Team Hills and 91 Lacrosse since 7th grade. In addition, Jillian was the starting goalie junior and senior years for varsity soccer, earning her All-Tournament title in the league sophomore year.

Nichole Doran
Nichole Doran will be attending Stony Brook University, playing Division I Lacrosse for the Seawolves. Nichole has been on the varsity team since freshman year, was named captain last year, and is a Scholar Athlete. More lacrosse accolades include being named 2010 Suffolk County Unsung Hero Award, 2012 Brine National lacrosse Classic East Team member, Team Hills and Team 91 Select Player from 2005 through 2012, and participates as a Volunteer Lacrosse Coach for a youth group. Nichole has also been a three year varsity soccer player and participates in a lot of school activities: National Honor Society, Peer Ambassador, Future Educators, Varsity Club, and Choral groups.
