Ian Schwartz, of Melville, is taking his passion for service across the globe.
The Union College student was chosen to travel abroad as part of the college's prestigious Minerva Fellowship.
He will be one of nine students traveling the world to work in developing countries and work with a social entrepreneurial organization for 11 months.
Schwartz, a political science major, will travel to Cambodia to work with The Global Child, a nonprofit school in Siem Reap.
At the end of his trip, he will return to the College and live in a Minerva house for one month, where he and his travel partners will participate in a social entrepreneurial course and educate current students about their experiences abroad.
