Hills East Grad Honored For Video Work

Known as the "unofficial school videographer," student earns senior award and county proclamation.

A recent graduate of Half Hollow Hills was honored with a proclamation from Suffolk County Legis. Lou D'Amaro, D-Huntington Station, for receiving the Citizenship Award at the school's 2011 Senior Awards Night.

Dean Baram, acted as the school's "unofficial school videographer," school administrators said. An accomplished student and active member of his senior class, Baram used his talents to create artistic visions and memories of his high school.

The award is annually presented by D’Amaro to a student who “gives of him or herself for the betterment of the school and/or the community.”

Dean’s exceptional creative talents were showcased in several projects he filmed, edited and directed including sports events, plays, awards shows, student community service projects and a documentary on the district’s Wellness Fair.

During his senior year, he spent more than 12 hours filming and editing the eighth grade parent orientation video. He is also an outstanding student who was active in many school
clubs and organizations.

“As a student at Half Hollow Hills East, Baram regularly donated his time and talents to capture and archive important school events, providing an invaluable service for both current and future students, as well as the district as a whole,” D’Amaro said. “It is a privilege to recognize him for all that he did to enrich the community and make Suffolk County a better place to live. I wish him much continued success.”
