Loss Still a Victory Against Cancer

Colts battle with Deer Park before losing one point game.

The Colts' game against Deer Park on Tuesday was the closest game the team has seen so far this season.

While a one-point difference kept from the win, the entire school community scored a major victory for the American Cancer Society.

The Varsity Club hosted the event, which is an annual nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The purpose is to increase awareness, promote healthy living and create fundraising activities. During last year’s basketball season, Section XI boys and girls basketball programs raised more than $42,970.

In the past 10 years, High School West has raised more than $10,000.

The event also marked a huge success for . The team celebrated the All State player's 1,000th career-point, which he earned during last week's game against Comsewogue.

The Colts and Deer Park Falcons played a tight game for four quarters, but Hills West lost 60-59.

Hills West will take on West Babylon on Thursday at 6 p.m.
